Rates & Fees
Results of ASAPP’s 2024 Rate Survey
ASAPP is frequently asked by families, insurance providers, and agencies about the recommended rates for Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) in Alberta. It is important to note that there is no standardized or recommended rate for private practice SLPs in the province.
SLP rates vary based on several factors, which may include:
-
Years of clinical experience
-
Specialized training or certifications
-
Geographic location within Alberta
-
Travel required for in-home services
Based on ASAPP’s 2024 rate survey of its membership, a wide range of service rates were reported. The mode rate—the most frequently reported rate—was $150 per session. Many SLPs indicated plans to increase their rates in the near future, suggesting that this figure may already be outdated.
When inquiring about rates, it’s important to clarify what is included in the fee. Services may or may not include:
-
Time for indirect work (e.g., documentation)
-
Travel time or mileage for in-home services
-
Phone consultations
-
Participation in IPP (Individual Program Plan) meetings
ASAPP plans to release updated rate information for 2025 to ensure accuracy for both the public and SLPs
